Valentine Logar

Joined 4 years ago from Dallas, Texas. Last activity 3 weeks ago.

Considered outspoken and opinionated, I concede that I often can be found poking the bear.  Interested in a wide range of topics that include sociology, business, politics, human relationships, religion, and philosophy I continue to seek opportunities to learn wherever possible.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother; all roles that I cherish. I am also a business owner, and world traveler.

I am a professional woman in a mans world and this continues to be a source of both great opportunity and great stress at times for me and my family.

I have been blessed with a life full of experiences that others would consider not so wonderful but I consider simply what was needed.  Likely I could have done with less of some but I would not be the person I am without them so I accept and grow.

    Progressive Political Thinking

If one listens to the talking heads, whether Right, Left or somewhere in the Center it is easy to get lost in Ideology, rhetoric and frankly nonsense. There are times we can get sucked into believing the problems of this country are so large, so...

    Meritocracy & Egalitarianism in America

What is it and why is it important for us to understand. We are a nation in decline; yes, I said it we are a post-industrial nation in decline. America is the first, not the next and certainly not a maybe, but the first to enter the post-industrial...

    Can we talk about forgiveness

Can we talk about forgiveness? A concept that is highly touted as the single most important thing we can do for ourselves to heal from traumatic or otherwise difficult situations in our lives. I have heard it said from many different sources over...

    Jesus was a Socialist

Jesus was the very first Socialist. Got your attention with that statement, didn’t I? Over the past several months, many of my more politically right friends and family members have grown quite bellicose during discussions about the current...

    Sexual Objectification and Feminism

I was recently talking with some friends about female beauty and the art of airbrushing. This really was a discussion about how we have impossible standards to live up to especially as we age. With money, time, and a good computer...

Political Correctness: Tyranny or social evolution?

Where does language and action intersect to create a society in which individuals are no longer seen or heard? I can agree that some language has the power to cause harm, however this does not mean that it should be removed from our vocabulary. In...

Are the rights of the individual infringed upon by American society?

Does this seem to be an odd or strangely phrased question? The idea that individual rights might still, in this day and age that is in 2008, be negatively affected by society itself. Honestly, there are many ways in which to answer the question and...

    It is only fair

My favorite definition of illiteracy is as follow[1]: the ignorance resulting from not reading. While there are many other definitions, this is by far the best one in my opinion. But then I thought that it might be necessary to clearly define...

Suppression of Christianity in America-the Truth?

I find this to be an amazing subject, the suppression of Christianity in the United States. As if this were in truth happening on any scale. That some Christians might believe that it is happening I can understand however, in truth I believe that a...

    Argument For Secularism

An amazing thing happened on the way to developing an advanced Secular nation called the United States of America, we lost our way and forgot our most profound principals. To believe that this country was founded as a Christian nation is to ignore...
